Still making stuff. This is a bit of it.
That’s all for now,
Archive for Work in Progress
I haven’t posted in a while. I’m busy making stuff.
Yep, that’s what these are, just a few images of parts of something I’m working on. Maybe I’ll even finish it someday and post the final work here. In case you were wondering, no, those are not blue fur-balls in that photo above. I did not dye my cats blue to facilitate my art making. Don’t be ridiculous.
With sincerity and a powerful gust of ambivalent sighs,
Let’s see now, what to say about this. How about it’s not finished yet, but it’s starting to make me grin. I hope that thing that sometimes happens where I show an unfinished piece and then lose interest in it doesn’t happen this time.
Thanks for looking!
Here’s the most current pic I have of this work in progress. It’s the same one I posted last week. And below is an earlier stage.
Alrighty, I have to return some video tapes. TTYL.
Above is a closeup of what’s happening with one of the pieces I posted last weekend. Below is another work in progress. It’s another of the two foot square panels.
Yep. That’s what I’ve got going on.

Don’t let the title of this post mislead you. I’m no math geek. I mean, I do think math is great. I love math geeks. It’s just that there is a ton of math I haven’t actually used since high school. As a result, there is much that I have forgotten. I’m still good at measuring and fractions because that’s handy for building things. But honestly, in the interest of creating a convoluted post title, I looked up the square root of eight today in lieu of even trying to figure it out.
Back to art! My very special pal built for me this week, eight fabulously-crafted two foot square panels. That’s him above alongside the panels with his blue ball and his blue yoga mat. Thank you, handsome, beardy Bodart! Each panel is cradled with one by twos which leaves a little room in the back for things like squishy foam and velvet or whatever else strikes my fancy once I start cutting into these suckers. I haven’t started any subtractive work yet, just additive. See a couple of works in progress below.

Happy painting, bitches!

This is a bad photo of a work in progress. I’m going south for a couple of days.
WIP, oil into monotype on paper, 18″ x 24″
Here’s a bit of progress on this one. Remember what it looked like before? Well, here it is now. It’s not a big change, but what with the holidays and feeling as if I’d rather hide in a dungeon than open my eyes most days lately, I figure any progress is good.
Hope you’re all enjoying your days more than a sharp stick in the eye and fingers crossed for a positive start to this next year!
Love and MOREFRACKINGDAYLIGHTPLEASE!
I’ve had this piece sitting around, waiting for paint for months. This week, I started painting on it. There will be much, much more paint before it’s finished. It will likely end up with little resemblance to what you see here. But I thought it might be fun to share progress shots of this one along the way. You can see a photo of it at an earlier stage after the jump.
Work in progress, another in the series “Old Ruling Class”.
The support is a cradled masonite board treated with a white clay ground, which produces a nice balanced surface that is both a resist and absorbing platform which allows me to do reductive mark-making with tools such as a razor blade, which is a technique my father, Harry, used to great effect in a number of projects such as his Divine Comedy series.
Harry celebrates his 92nd birthday this weekend. Happy Birthday, Dad!

As for not so sharp photos, well, you be the judge of that. I’m still working on this one. It’s sort of a sketch to figure some things out. It measures 17 x 10 x 3/4 inches and is acrylic and stuff on wood. Figuring is proving difficult this week though. I’m sick and my everything hurts. Not to mention, I have one of those barking goose coughs now. It’s distracting.
Heyo! I’m in the North Country right now (hopefully) having a great time at a big ol reunion. In the meantime, here’s a very young work in progress that’s awaiting my return back in lovely sweltering Western Mass. Also, please go look and leave a vote for the title of my last finished painting that I accidentally posted earlier this week.
I’ve actually been thinking this will be vertical but Photobucket flipped it and now I’m a little more open to horizontal. I never really decide for certain until a piece is done, but I’m curious, what do you guys think? Vertical or horizontal? Here it is turned.
Peace and Deetforallyourblackflyneeds,
