Straight Sketchbook, Homie

I’ll probably be at work 11-12 hours today so the time I’m spending on this will just keep me here longer. I may be plumbing the random depths of my Flickr feed for stuff to post the next few weeks. But that’s why I don’t delete the random crap in my twitter feed.

2005Brains

This is an underground room full of brains in tanks. They control robots outside to prevent bodily risk. I drew this years before Surrogates sucked the life out of the idea, thanks.

5_06_Lava Flow

The initial sketches for pieces I’ve posted on here before. Could I find and link to that piece? Yes. But I won’t.

6_2006Our Relationship

This is the sketch for a piece I’ve been working on for 3 years and will probably never finish.

Sketchy

Today I’m going to do another round of shorter posts throughout the day featuring sketches- smaller, quicker pieces, jokes and/or experiments.  Most of these don’t even have titles.  I more or less let my scanner’s automated numbering system name them for me.

With that, I give you, “Sketch 341″

Sketch341

8″ x 12″ Acrylic on Canvas, collaged.

These shapes were cut by my Pazzles machine. They look like flowers, but technically you get this type of shape by drawing smaller circles around the diameter of a larger circle, then tracing over and under those circles to get this basic pattern.

That probably didn’t make sense. Anyways, I made them for a different piece I haven’t uploaded, that was much more orderly. This was how I used all the leftover parts, while embracing the less orderly form.

There is some glare in the image because of the gloss gel used as glue.

I’ll be back in a few hours with another.
