It seems someone has finally taken an interest in the billboards on the G line and has replaced them all with shiny new ones that are of absolutely no use to me. So, while I wait for entropy to takes it’s course I decided to go back to the streets and see what I could find. This one was on Bedford Ave in Williamsburg, and I took several versions but I am going with this one for the moment, it’s an untitled Tracy Feith (whoever that is) Lou Reed mash up.
I’ve been taking pictures of dead animals for as long as I have been taking pictures, and I can’t say it’s deliberate, but when I see one I find myself inexplicably drawn with a mixture of compassion and connection leading the way. There is something about the idea that these little lives go largely unseen and in death they go unnoticed. I watched a half a dozen people pass by this rat without a glance and I guess that makes sense, why should anyone care about a dead rat? I don’t know, but for some reason I do. Anyway, enough babbling, here he is.
I’ve got a little storehouse of images, but most of them need some work, this is just an un-photoshopped image. I liked the patterns and the addition of the New York Bagfish made me giggle, so this is what you get today.
But the truth is that lately I have been channeling all of my creative energy into my house. My kooky pack rat father spent years building up this monstrosity of junk and now I have to unravel it all in just a few weeks. This is our cottage, a building that would be a wonderful guest house if only it weren’t filled with all of this:
I am treating it as my current long term W.I.P. so more images will come as it develops. Whatta mess.
All this rainy weather has me thinking of being back at Cape Cod, swimming in the bay in my night dress and getting all the little brine shrimp stuck in it. Or, maybe this is about the collapse of the economy. Your guess is as good as mine.
