This is a little chaotic, admittedly, but I look at it being more “about” information than aesthetics. Most of the time when I’m making art I work from beginning to end on a piece trying to make all the parts harmonious, for a nice aethetic whole. But every so often i get fed up at that. It’s kind of delusional to me and not representative of the world, which is a loud mess of interweaving streams of information. When I get there, I enjoy making louder pieces like this, a mash up of leftover parts from my free art give away. The point isn’t to portray a unified vision, but to highlight the clash of the various streams of information that each decontextualized fragment represents. It’s not classically beautiful that way, but it appeals to me on a weird level.

Sketch344

“Sketch 344″ 12″ x 8″ mixed media collage. Special guest appearance by Rita Childress. Everyone give her a big round of applause! (She did the colorful blue and orange marker bit on the left side.
