My house has become something of an art project in itself over the years. When I first moved in here 12 years ago the owner was (and still is) something of a hoarder, part of it is laziness (can’t be bothered to clean or throw things away), part of it is nostalgia, and part of it is seeing value everywhere. There were piles upon piles of crap, junked cars on the lawn, skinny paths through teetering towers of stuff, and surprises at every turn. If I recall correctly I found 13 non-working televisions in that first year alone, it felt like every time I lifted a box up there would be a TV under it!

It took me years, a multitude of teen aged assistants, and at least one act of God to get it all under some control – so what do I do once I get it there? I invite my friend Andy to bring it all back, in the form of “art supplies”. He had a little run-in with the town and needed a place to put all his stuff, the plan being that he would make an outdoor studio here to work. That was the plan anyway.

What really happened is he moved all the stuff here, put tarps over all of it, and then got caught up in life. It happens. Now he’s moving to California and all this stuff has to go somewhere, so he decides he’s going to bring it with him, or most of it anyway, and the rest I can either keep or put in the 40 yard dumpster we had delivered.

At the same time, while I have the muscle and the dumpster I decided it’s a good idea to clean out the little blue cottage, which was impassibly filled with boxes of rotting paper and junk.

This was one of the “good” sections, meaning I could get inside of it.

No one has seen the floor in years. I think I am going to turn it into some functional studio space, while contemplating my co-dependent attraction to hoarders. Progress pics to follow.
