I’ve been interested in pursuing neutral, almost colorless paintings. Of course, there is a world of color in the most neutral composition of blacks grays, and whites. At any rate, this painting has been labor and is not co-operating. I demand the painting to bow to my will. Instead it has behaved difficultly. We shall see where this ends up.
The St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF) is in its 18th inauguration (11/12-22). The locations this year are the Tivoli Theatre, Plaza Frontenac Cinema, the St. Louis Art Museum, Hi-Pointe Theatre, Webster University and at the Brown Hall Auditorium at Washington University. Headlining the event will be the new Jason Reitman (Juno) film, “Up in the Air”, starring George Clooney, which was shot in St. Louis. Preview —>
Sometimes when I look at a picture I’ve taken of a large wall I kind of zero in on one tiny section. I found this one walking around in Berkeley yesterday, a small part of a big spray painted mailbox that I didn’t even notice at the time. It reminds me a little of where I am right now, in the clouds somewhere over Nebraska.
This week, in honor of her visit, I designed a template based on a photograph of Ms. Toni Tiller, tomorrow’s d’Arteboard poster, so we could collage together:

I did the first one, Tiller chose the pieces for the second, and I was back for the third again, in as insane a manner as I could think of. (Toni had 2 requests- she didn’t want green skin and she doesn’t like loud. The lesson: Don’t tell me what to do. And I will make you do art that I will post as my own.)
I imagine I’ll revisit these some more. I’ll fill you in if I do.

I wanted to use pictures that I took for this is a digital collage. Most of them are nature shots from around my home. I tinted(tainted) all the pics with clippings of internet porn. I like playing around with source material especially with digital stuff.
