It’s Friday the 13 and I’m Jason…

Ok, so the title has nothing to do with my post, other then the fact that posting incomplete artwork can be just as scary as silver-screen killers. These two “paintings” are both watercolor and gouache on 4″ x 6″ paper, and they are each experiments/returns to paint/color studies for me. Lately, I’ve been experiencing both the excitement of new inspirations and the frustrations of impairing roadblocks, which these two little studies represent.

Hmm…I can see it. That ability to imaginarily attach something familiar to something visually unfamiliar is called “Matrixing” or “Symbol Differentiation”, btw. Good call though, my mind has definitely been in space lately!

  2. Those cracks in the matt surface suggest this is water-based poster-style paint. Those cracks…I love em. The textures suggests many things, spaces, places, memories, etc.

You are correct, sir! Thanks for that, Tom; my return from hiatus to painting could’ve been much, much worse than receiving a compliment from an artist who I respect so highly.

P.S. I got those cracks where I wanted them by bending the paper like the bill of a baseball cap.

    Thanks Toni!
