So Where Did I Create Them Artworks?

Back when I was creating the early pin and scrap pieces in 2005-2006, people in our myspace art group began posting photos of their studio space so everybody could gtet an idea of where they were working.  These are my photos from that time.  The set-up has actually changed since then, but the apartment is the same. I have a better tv and computer though. And a PS3 and a Wii.

To the left of the first pic would be my bed.

And then there’s my bed again. Here’s a close up of the full desk/drawing area and my stuffed pirhana:

This is a bird’s eye view of my drawer of blue scraps (with black/white/canvas colored below it). The blue one used to filled to the top. There’s been less since I used them. Shocking.

I may or may not post more today. Let me know if you’re dying for it. I do need to save some material for those weeks I accomplish nothing…

My disaster area has yours beat in crudenss and inefficiency by one astronomical unit. I fell backward into a studio for little or cheap though…which by my standards is reverently clean for unexplainable reasons. (Maybe it’s mere lack of cat hair.) It’s subject to sudden upheaval though. A collapsable mansion of glory as it were.

    Stuffed piranna. That’s quality!

Oh, I remember this era of WAN! That was fun; I think that we should all take pics of our current working scenarios. Maybe a future DarteBoard contest? Hmm hmm…

    • winner gets to clean and organize our work spaces!

i like the idea of sharing our work spaces. i live in mine at the moment so it is a real mess.

      • I already have some of mine up on my blog. I do molding and casting for sculpture. The process is long and complicated. I have little time or funds to spend on it. Consequently, I just try to keep my studio uncluttered (if not truly clean) so I can at least remember what the hell I was doing when I left! I attempt to get back into focus by merely sitting in a chair in front of the work with few distractions.

I’m more interested in final presented works, but I welcome community about anyone’s interest in studios. I also help furnish them for other artists in our building with easels and large, mural-size canvas. There’s probably four or five money-making artists in it (besides this wannabe). This seems to owe to our eccentric landlord’s benevolence.

I do find it a little strange that Picasso, when he could afford help, instructed that the studio not be dusted from time to time. Carpets (wall to wall) would seem to be a no no for painters as they hold too much dust (and CAT HAIR!). (Maybe that’s before vacuums became so efficient.) I throw out all manner of airborne nuisances, epoxies, silicas, carbonates. The owner makes me put on two exhaust fans and a fancy filtration thing on casters.

  7. Below,
A link to my Flickr account. To give one an idea of what kind of studios spaces are in my hometown of Pueblo, Colorado:

Now, of course there isn’t much art market here. But the rent would seem more affordable. I keep thinking it would be a great place to film movies, interior scenes set back in time.

Some of these even come with walk in safes!

I don’t know what one would keep in it, unless it’s a Rembrandt or something. I forgot who’s office was who’s. The Psychology Group on 3rd floor even have a little holding cell that used to be for the Circuit Court in the early 1900′s.
