Lost Rauschenberg Found on My Roof
Or so I wish… I have been spending a lot of time up on my roof though, which has been its own sort of uncovered treasure for me. The nice thing, is that all I have to do to access it is open one of the windows off of my studio, and walk-out. If you happened to read my reply to Daniel’s comment in my Written Letter Project: Update Three, here is one of the falcons.
I was sure that it was a Peregrine Falcon when I was out there, but it could be another closely related raptor. It was fast though! I don’t normally use telephotos with my type of photography, so the ones that I own do not have vibration reduction, unfortunately (may be a good reason to increase my credit limit…). In any case, I love my roof.
You may have noticed that I don’t have a lot to report this week. It’s true. One interesting thing though is that I was pulled aside at the art museum and asked to remove any pictures that I had taken of the museum or its contents from this blog. Apparently, the HR department does a pretty thorough job of monitoring its employees internet activities. It is a good thing, I think; they are just making sure that their collection is protected. And honestly, they aren’t prohibiting me from taking the photos, just from publishing them, which I think is very reasonable, given my employment there. I love working at the museum, and I want to continue to do so, so I have decided to comply and keep those images to myself.
And finally, for Brown Mega, here is another polaroid for your perusement. My wife:

The third shot of the roof, with the blues and other colors is really quite beautiful.
Most workplaces just don’t want employees to even mention them, good bad or otherwise because they prefer to have control. I’m specifically instructed in my contract to ask OTHER people talking about my workplace to cease and desist if I see it. I can understand a museum trying to maintain control of the media in its possession. Though if you have the opportunity and permission, I think it’s appropriate to post press releases about shows and such here. WE don’t have any policies against it…

Thanks, J.D.! And, you’re right. I should have had the foresight not to post those pics (it’s an art museum after all), but at least they didn’t just tell me to get lost. The workplaces of the world have definitely become much more careful about how their brand is spread (rightly so, given the viral nature of internet media). I will definitely post some press releases on upcoming events AFTER they have released it to the press.

Thanks for putting in another polaroid. Fuji had a brand out called Instamatic and still makes some instant films for their cameras, but I don’t think their brand is compatible with the Polaroids. Bah! What do I know about all of this?
Just bring back the Polaroids ok somebody?
I started this year playing with my girlfriend’s Polaroid. She’s been a lover of Polaroids for years now and she takes a mean polaroid. Me take over for you once in a while here? Oh…I don’t know. I could maybe, but I have my own blog, you know….
I tell you what. I will go take some polaroids of stuff around town and send them to you for your consideration.

The b&w Poloraids were great. i have an old model 95 that was dad’s, but Poloroid, in their quest for silly financial survival, dropped the type 42 film in the 90′s.

Just use the poloroidal creme and that should clear everything up.
Honestly though, you are absolutely right about how Polaroid shot themselves in the foot (and so did Kodak for that matter). I mean, when you’ve got Ansel Adams championing your photography gear, how do you go out business less than 50 years later? Answer: you release consecutively poorer products. Still though, the 600 and Spectra were/are fun formats to shoot.

You’re welcome, Mr. Brown, and definitely email me some of those pics whenever you are ready (libertinephotography@me.com). Viva la polaroid!
