Whatcha Doin’ Tonight? Going To See The One And Only Lizardman @ Coney Island!

Coney Island
TUESDAY, APRIL 21ST @ 8:00 pm – $10

The Lizardman is tonight’s feature performer in the 3rd Annual Congress Of Curious Peoples at Coney Island’s Sideshow By The Seashore.

If you’re in or near NYC, I urge you to make a point of going to see the green man perform.  Had I the means, I’d be there in a heartbeat.  Not only is The Lizardman a guaranteed spectacle of entertainment, he’s also one fine and brilliant spark in the sea of humanity, or at least he was way back in the day.  And his personal transformation from handsome human to herpetological wonder as an ongoing artistic project is thoroughly fascinating both aesthetically and conceptually.  Go go go!

From the Coney Island website:

“TUESDAY, APRIL 21ST @ 8:00 pm  -  $10
THE LIZARDMAN
The Lizardman is not your usual entertainer. Covered with more than 700 hours of tattooing to effect reptilian scales over his entire body, with subdermal implants creating horned ridges over his eyes, teeth filed to points, and a surgically forked tongue he more than lives up to the images conjured by his peculiar but apt moniker.  Onstage, The Lizardman seamlessly blends stand up comedy, spoken word, and sideshow stunts both old and new into an amazing and offbeat one of a kind experience that his audiences never forget.”

Sadly, I won’t be one of the cool kids tonight. All sorts of stupid things stand in the way of an impromptu trek to the city this week for me. Please go and report back so I can live vicariously through you.  I so wish I could be there.  My warmest regards to the scaly star!  Break a leg LM!

No green color, but he looks kookier in other ways (not that there’s anything wrong with that). When I am dragged to the mall occasionally, I buy a drink and stand where I can see entry to the store, then I watch the expressions of people coming out of the place.

    • heheheh, yes but what kind of skills does he possess? and where does he weigh in on the intellectual and personality scales? LM is “kooky looking” and much more. i’d say he tips the afore mentioned scales with ease. i have alotta respect for the guy, both for how he’s chosen to transform himself and for him on a personal level. of course i don’t know anything about this poor shlub of whom you speak. it could be he’s a brilliant, talented guy with a great sense of humor.

  2. [...] instead, to shoot some photos and maybe spot LizardMan. Steph prompted the whole idea in an earlier post, but it was well past his show time when we got in the car. The fog was thick as soup and Meg and I [...]
