Tabla Rasa, the gallery in Sunset Park, Brooklyn which represents me, is exibiting a group show called Nobis Solo, in which I have 2 paintings and 6 monotypes. “Nobis Solo is an exhibition of sculpture, painting and works on paper, each work complete unto itself. Entitled in the Latin phrase for “By ourselves alone,” the artworks that were selected emphasize a unity of concept and process. Although it can be said of any work of art that it must stand on its own, co-curators Joseph and Audrey Anastasi feel there is an ineffable quality of individuality that is evident in these particular pieces. “Each artist in their way, demonstrates an extraordinary connection with their medium and a mastery of technique, where form, content and material are one.” Oneness is a spiritual term referring to the ‘experience’ of the absence of egocentric identity boundaries.” –from the gallery press release
A strong representation of some very good painters, printmakers, sculptors and mixed media artists.
The opening was last month and there was a good turnout. The show is up through January.
This Sunday, December 14, there is an organized gallery tour throughout the borough of Brooklyn to promote the arts. I will be at the gallery to talk to visitors about my art, the show and the contemorary art climate in Brooklyn.

Is it ironic that you have 3 pieces from an extended series in a show of this theme? Was it legal negligence to allow your model to sleep walk around town while you painted them? (I realize they’re monoprints but paint seems like the most apt verb. Or were you “monoprinting” them?

It is contradictory in all cases. I rarely, if ever, monoprint my sleepwalking models. I do, however, monotype them. Monotype-cast them, actually.
